The eustachian tubes connect the middle ear to the back of the nose and throat. They help equalize pressure in the ears and allow fluid to drain from the middle ear. Normally, these tubes open briefly when you swallow, yawn, or chew.
When the eustachian tubes do not open or function properly, pressure and fluid may build up in the middle ear. This condition, known as eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD), can contribute to ear pressure, fullness, muffled hearing, discomfort, and, in some patients, recurring ear infections.
Metro ENT provides comprehensive ear evaluations for patients throughout Mesquite, Garland, Forney, Sunnyvale, Balch Springs, East Dallas, and surrounding communities. Our goal is to determine whether ETD or another ear condition is contributing to your symptoms and recommend appropriate treatment options.
